To Be Muslim In America

I know a lot of Muslims. They're scared. I'm sad to say that I don't blame them. Watch this video and experience what they go through. Greenwald has the background info for this.

Looks like the video is now being suppressed. See here.

Atleast we dont just randomly beat up female reporters on "suspicion" of being a Jew.

I'd be scared to be Jew in Muslim countries...thats the real scary part.

HP -

I don't understand why you bother with this type of response. You are setting up a straw-man - as well as the comment being a relativistic fallacy.

Once again HP is quick to condemn immoral behavior of others that he cannot control in order to divert attention from atrocious behavior of these he can control and those with which he is sympathetic (tea partyers).

You might as well complain about Australian treatment of Aborigines. This is happening in your back yard. In our country a vulnerable minority is being aggressively demonized in ways that I'm sorry to say do not look a whole lot different from Nazi Germany to me. I know you're not supposed to draw parallels like that, but it's immediately what comes to mind I think. Why are you trying to distract from the issue at hand? You should be reaching out to your right wing friends and join in solidarity with Muslims on this issue in order to protect the 4 year old children that are being screamed at.

Yeah, yeah, yeah...focus on what you can control, I get all that, but more people need to know. For those interested, this is what I was referring to.

That's a standard Commissar tactic. When Sakharov, who was a Soviet dissident, would express criticism of internal Soviet behavior he was met with the same kinds of criticisms. "What about the Americans? Look at what they do." His answer was that he didn't know much about what Americans did and didn't care. Why should he concern him with things he can't control and for which he is not responsible?

That's basically a whole right wing industry. Bashing state enemies for their far fewer atrocities while ignoring the enormous atrocities on their own side. You say more Americans need to know. They need to know that like they need to know about Genghis Khan. OK. You want to have an academic seminar? That's fine. Can't do anything about it. Want to make the world better? Look in your back yard.

Yawn. Call me Sakharov from now on then. :-)

It seems you are not understanding things. You aren't Sahkarov. You are his critics. I'm Sahkarov. You are the Commissar.
